My work is about light, color, darkness and shadows. Rather than focusing on a well-defined subject, I prefer to venture into the unknown in the way that abstract work allows, while still exercising a critical control over the rightness and wrongness of my marks and gestures. My colors come from nature’s pallet but my approach is more oriental and meditative. I memorize what I see and digest what I feel, allowing everything to transform and filter through my mind. My most formative years were spent in Asia and my work is the product of both Eastern and European cultures - the mix having happened long ago and deep inside my subconscious.
